Simple & Delicious 4th of July Recipe – Jello® Cake

| May 19, 2011 | 0 Comments

What is more American than Jello® and cake? This recipe is great for a 4th of July BBQ or cookout as a cold dessert. Here is what you will need to start:

1White or Yellow cake mix (and ingredients to make)

1Large box of Jello® mix

1Large container of whipped topping

When it comes to the Jello® flavor you choose, you can pick almost any flavor. Some of my personal favorites are strawberry, cherry, and orange. Now here are the directions:

1.Bake the cake following the instructions on the box. Use a metal 13 x 9 pan for best results.

2.After cake is baked allow to air cool for one to two hours. Then make small holes on the top of the cake.

3.Make the Jello® mixture following the instructions on the box, except, instead of putting in a mold pour the mixture over the cake. Try to make sure you get even coverage on the cake.

4.Put the cake in the refrigerator and cool overnight.

5.Just before serving cover the top of the cake in whipped topping.

(Also you can add sliced strawberries on top for an extra appeal)

6.Serve cold and enjoy.

Hope you enjoy this all-American recipe and it becomes a tradition in our household too.
