Not So Fun in the Sun
Most people know that doctors actually recommend 10 minutes of unprotected sun exposure per day. Just ask your doctor. Ten minutes is the perfect amount of time for your body to absorb its daily intake of Vitamin D needed from the Sun? On the flipside, too much sun exposure hurts… really bad. According to WebMD.com, you can get sunburn after 15 minutes of sun exposure. It may not show immediately, but later you will notice that your skin is irritated and slightly red a few hours later.
Here are a few of the symptoms of sunburn or sun poisoning you should be aware of (via WebMD.com):
- Skin redness and blistering
- Pain and tingling
- Swelling
- Headache
- Fever and chills
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Dehydration
For those who are not used to being outside all the time in the middle of the hot summer, be careful. The sun can really take a toll on the body. Another cause of extensive exposure to the sun is fatigue. I know I get really tired after a long day at the beach; even if I just sat there all day. In the long-term, you can also develop skin cancer. So be safe out there this summer. Make sure you remember to wear sun screen, and make sure you hydrate often!
