Brett Favre’s Return, Again…

We’ve all heard the story of Peter and the Wolf, right?  Well when I think about the roller coaster ride Brett Favre has taken the NFL and all of its fans on the fable is the first thing that comes to mind.  Favre recently signed a two-year, $25 million with the Minnesota Vikings.  I’m just as salty as the next real football fan because last time I checked, football is a team sport, not a ‘come and do what you please, when you please sport’.  I’ve got a few thoughts on what he should do.  But who am I to say what Brett Favre should or shouldn’t do?

Just your average sports fan.  Back in the day, about 10-12 years ago, I was an avid Brett Favre fan, especially when he led the Packers to their Super Bowl win in 1996. Reminiscing on the good ‘ol days, check on these apartments for rent in Green Bay.  But now, that’s a distant memory.  His indecision has begun to overshadow his immense accomplishments in the NFL. Brett Favre

Fran Tarkenton, former great Minnesota Vikings quarterback, described it best in a recent interview on ‘Outside the Lines’, an ESPN show focusing on off the field issues in different sports and athlete’s lives, when he said Favre signing with Minnesota was an ‘absolute circus’.  I completely agree, I don’t think it’s fair to football fans and the NFL, to take attention away from important football issues to focus on whether or not Favre is going to make up his mind this year.

Taking things a step further, a guest analyst on ‘Mike and Mike in the Morning’, an ESPN radio show which also airs on ESPN2, spoke on Favre’s daughter’s indecisiveness on whether or not he should come out of retirement.  Apparently, Favre’s daughter first encouraged him to join the Vikings in hopes that she would make new friends, but later expressed her hesitation to leave her current friends.  The analyst said, “I guess the whole family has a history of waffling.”  The greatest line ever!

It’s deplorable how some find it acceptable for Favre, or anyone, to waltz on to a team without attending training camp or any pre-season workouts.  Please explain this to me!  Favre’s inability to make a decision has caused some rifts in relationships, particularly with the Green Bay Packers.  Since March of 2008 Favre has retired first with Green Bay, came back, and when Green Bay doesn’t honor his ‘un-retirement’ he signs with the Jets.  Then, he retired again after an injury-laden season with the New York Jets. If New York is your scene unlike the ‘waffling’ Favre, check out these apartments for rent in New York.

Now, a major reason Favre’s signing with Minnesota is so tough on Packers’ fans is because the Vikings are a division rival.  This is the ultimate sin in the NFL.  But, I guess Brett thinks he’s above the NFL, right?  He doesn’t even have to come to training camp to play!  All I’m saying is, we need to focus more on the game of football and less on turning Brett Favre into a god of the NFL.  Because that, he is not.

Hyped that you’ve got Favre now?  Check out these Minneapolis, Minnesota apartments for rent.

Attention Property Managers….time to take a closer look!

If you haven’t taken a look at our social media websites, you definitely need to! Especially since we write content with marketing/advertising ideas to help promote your apartment community videos. After your video goes live on ForRent.com, it is then uploaded to several social media websites such as YouTube, MySpace, Yahoo, Dailymotion, AptsVideo.com. The purpose for doing this is to make the apartment search process easier for renters; we want your community to be where THEY are. It also helps expose the property’s attractive features. This really gives prospective renters the opportunity to gage a property before going to see it.

In addition to posting it on social media websites, we also write a blog alerting consumers what new videos have come out which feeds into our Facebook Page and Twitter. This again is to encourage them to seek more information about your property and hopefully drive more LEADS to your door step!

Thanksgiving Day Parade

If someone were to say Thanksgiving Day Parade, what would you think of? The most recognized Thanksgiving Day Parade is in fact the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade which takes place in New York City.  This parade has become a staple in American culture ever since the movie Miracle on 34th Street which showed real footage of the festivities.  Of course national coverage by NBC every year has helped. Just thinking of the movie gives me all sorts of warm fuzziness and the merriment of the parade only reinforces those feelings for me. But did you know this annual parade started in 1924 in Newark, New Jersey? Yup, employees of Macy’s marched from the flagship store on 34th Street dressed in costumes with floats, professional bands and live animals following them (in 1927 live animals were replaced by balloons). At the end of the parade Santa Clause is welcomed into Herald Square.  According to Wikipedia, the first parade had an audience of over a quarter of a million people! It was viewed as a huge success, which is why Macy’s declared it an annual event.

There are actually many Thanksgiving Day Parades all over the US. The nation’s oldest Thanksgiving parade, the Gimbels Parade or now known as 6ABC IKEA Parade, was first held in Philadelphia, PA. There is also the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade of Chicago, IL, the Parade Spectacular that is run in Stamford, Connecticut and others in Seattle, WA, Houston, TX, Detroit, MI, etc.

Returning for just a second to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, an interesting fact to note-the balloons in the parade are designed with safety valves so they can float for a few days. Address labels were sewn into them, so that whoever found and mailed back the discarded balloon would receive a gift from Macy’s[1]. How cool is that??

Anyways, the point is we hope whatever celebrations you are taking part in this Thanksgiving you have a great time! Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks and be with those that mean the most during the Holiday season!

2008 Top 40 Best Cities for Singles

As tradition with last years post Best Cities for Singles, we have posted the newest version for all those single folks! These rankings, done by Forbes, are meant to be a guide for young, ambitious singles who can live and work wherever they want.

To determine the best cities out of the 40 largest urbanized areas in America they devised criteria of seven categories:  number of singles, night life, culture, cost of living alone, job growth, online dating activity and coolness (the last criteria being my favorite). In order to determine the coolness of each city, a poll was conducted in which participants were asked “Among the following U.S. cities, which one do you think is the coolest?” It is no surprise that New York was deemed the coolest city overall.

Here are the top 10….

1. Atlanta, GA

2. San Francisco, CA

3. Dallas, TX

4. Minneapolis, MN

5. Washington D.C

6. Seattle, WA

7. Boston, MA

8. New York City, NY

9. Orlando, FL

10. Phoenix, AZ

Atlanta, the capital of Georgia, tops the Forbes list of the best cities for singles mainly because of its great night life, high number of singles in the area as well as the great job growth market! In the eight years Forbes has been ranking America’s cities for singles, Atlanta has been in the top ten all but one year. Making it one of the friendliest cities!

Want to see if your city made the list?

Check out Forbes.com’s complete list of the Best Cities for Singles 2008 here. You can even sort by top cities for culture, nightlife, singles, job growth, living cost and online.
